The beginning....of the end

What a gorgeous day it was today!  I got the last of the deck furniture inside this afternoon and enjoyed a walk in the late afternoon.  I decided I had better get it in while I can...

I am sitting on my couch and listening to the weather forecast. Today is the beginning of the end...at least for a few days.  Tomorrow is going to be COLD and wintry with even some of that "white stuff" falling....possibly! 

But here is what I love about Minnesota....by Friday and Saturday next week, it will be back in the upper 50s and low 60s!  That will be a gift...I love these types of days and I will take as many of them as we can get!

So don't let the weather get you down tomorrow....fall is coming back next weekend!!!!

A good week....and a random thought

Ah, I love to travel!  I have been home for almost 6 weeks now, which has been very unusual for me over the past couple of years.  Through the end of August this year, I had flown almost 55,000 miles this year.  The good news about that is that I never had to put my luggage away.  It just stayed in my bedroom ready to go.

Well, it has been tucked away for the last 5 weeks until Monday morning when I flew to Chicago for business.  I worked with some great new clients Monday and Tuesday and got home late last night.  And when I landed back home, I realized how much I love to travel.  I am glad I get to fly again next week...back to Connecticut for a day and a half. 

And he random thought....I am cheering for the Rays in the World Series!

Chick Night

I spent time today on my notes for Chick Night on Sunday night.  You would think that you would not need notes to share your testimony, but I do.  It just helps keep my thoughts straight, because my story is really His Story....and I want to get His story right. 

I am excited about sharing His story through this life...I have never done that before, at least all in one message.  So I will be excited to see what He brings out. 

I hope you will be there to join in!  The Chick Night team always does such a GREAT job in throwing a party!  Grab a sister or an aunt or a grandmother or mom or a friend or neighbor....just bring the Chicks in your world for a great time!!

19 days

Is it only me, or are you ready for the end of the presidential campaigns...or any of the other campaigns for that matter?  This feels like it has been going on forever.  Ok, that is an exaggeration, but it has gone on way too long.  I will be glad when it is all over....just 19 days to go!   Then I won't have to TIVO the 10:00 news to avoid watching the same campaign ad for the umpteenth time!

By way of comparison...our good friends to the north called for an election just 6 weeks ago and they have already elected a new government. 

Hmmmm....maybe our Canadian friends have a better idea!!!

Rainy Monday

I love Monday's like today.  it is rainy, cool, and it smells so fresh.  I have the windows and doors open this morning as I work on a report for a client.  I know some people do not like days like today, but there is something about a steady rain like this that is soothing to me.  I hope you enjoy your Monday, no matter what you are doing.

Is it real or is it just the playoffs?

After church today, I came home and have been working on a report that is due to a client this week.  You may probably think I am crazy, but I like to have some sort of noise in the background while I work.  Today it was football and baseball.

As I end the day, I realize that I like baseball better than football.  Football seems so violent to me.  Guys are getting hurt more often these days...the game almost seems vicious.  And the antics after a play seem pretty goofy to me (especially when the antic comes from someone on a really bad team!!!). 

Baseball just seems more interesting to me now...and it is certainly less violent.  I am enjoying watching the playoffs this year...even though the Twins are long gone from the scene.

So is it just the playoffs that have piqued my interest...or is really that baseball is a better game? 

Oh, well....Go Rays!  Go Dodgers!  That is who I want to see in the World Series!

A fun Saturday

Today was a fun Saturday.  I started by getting up early to be at church for Discover.  I was at church by a little after 8:00 and was there till around noon.   I enjoyed every minute of the morning.  It is always great to see new people getting connected at RVC. 

After Discover, I drove back up to Edina to celebrate my great nephew, Brody's, 3rd birthday.  (OK, just so you know, he is my great nephew because he is the son of my nephew....but I think he is pretty great any way!)  There is something so cool about the innocence of a 3 year old.  It was fun to spend the afternoon with my family.  I met them at Edinborough Park in Edina...a great indoor park for kids.  (Moms, if you have not checked it out, you should. A safe place for your kids to play!)  The pictures below show Brody in his bright T-shirt that was part of the party pack my niece got for him.

I left the party a little early to get back to church for the evening service....and am glad I did.  Reggie Dabbs had a great message for us tonight!  It was good to hear him.  I hope you are at church this weekend...it is a "do not miss" type of experience.

Now I am back home and watching the baseball playoff game....it was a fun day!

Thought for the day

As I was making my coffee this morning and talking with God, I found myself asking:  "God what are You up to today?"

And then I realized, that is a pretty fun way to start each day...so many times we ask God to do something FOR us...rather than just connecting with Him on His agenda.  His agenda is far better than ours and we will find ourselves living a far more abundant life if we live according to His agenda each day. 

So today, just ask Him, "God what are You up to today?"  and then walk with Him through the day....

Back at it!

Hi!  I am back.  If you have checked recently you know I have not been blogging.  September was a great month...got some rest and spent time with the fam and friends...some old, some new.  But I am recommitting myself to blogging.  It may only be a short thought every once in a while, but I will be here.
