OK, it has been almost two weeks since I last posted. Lots of miles and lots of things have happened in that amount of time. Too many good things to get you caught up all at once, but I will keep you posted with current stuff from here on!
I taught the Wednesday night Bible study at church. We had been studying through the Book of James for the past four weeks and tonight we finished with chapter 5. I love the books of James.
There are so many good things about the book that it is hard to write about just one thing. One of the most important though is the power of prayer in our lives. Verse 16 says that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. So the big question is where do I find a righteous man or woman?
The room was full of them tonight. And you are righteous too...if you have committed your heart and life to follow Jesus Christ. When we surrender to His lordship in our lives, He makes us righteous...or gives us rightstanding with God...because of what Jesus did on the cross. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says "He Who knew no sin (Jesus) became sin for us so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus." On the cross Jesus became sinful with our sins. When God raised Him from the dead, He became our justification, if we simply believe that He paid the price.
So our spiritual nature has been changed to be righteous. Now we spending this life learning how to yield to that nature within us.
When we do, our prayers are powerful! I like that thought!
Come and join the crew on Wednesday night. Some amazing person will be teaching 1 Peter!
